In the corridors of a bustling school, a critical situation arose when a student unexpectedly started experiencing convulsing seizures, stirring distress and panic among teachers and students, alike. Fortunately, the skilled general physician from BICPHS swiftly took charge, exuding poise and competence amidst the commotion.
Demonstrating thorough professionalism, the physician efficiently managed the emergency at hand, by using expert first-aid techniques to help ensure the safety of the student throughout the episode of seizure, thus, averting dangerous complications. Following the event, focus shifted towards unravelling its root cause. It was discovered that the student was a diagnosed case of epilepsy, a condition that had been managed well for months, until he had stopped taking his medication. The student’s struggle with epilepsy had exacerbated due to non-compliance with his medications. The physician counselled the student and his parents with compassion and empathy, on the importance of consistent medication adherence and follow-ups with doctors. Emphasizing the grave risks associated with medication lapses, the importance of treatment compliance was highlighted.
